Untouchable

The plot follows Bakha, a proud, strong, and otherwise attractive young man who works as a sweeper and latrine-cleaner. Because of his birth status, he is forced to constantly shout warnings on public streets so that upper-caste pedestrians do not accidentally pollute themselves by touching his shadow. Following a series of highly distressing encounters over the course of one day, Bakha begins to deeply question his tragic fate. The narrative culminates at a public rally, offering potential solutions to his plight—ranging from the humanitarian teachings of Mahatma Gandhi to the introduction of the modern flush toilet
