Maloti Mukherji is married to Nayonangshu, a college lecturer whose reserved and insecure nature leaves her emotionally and physically dissatisfied. Her life changes when she becomes involved with Jayanto, a confident and passionate journalist. As their relationship deepens, Nayonangshu becomes aware of the affair but struggles with his pride and inability to confront the situation. The novel explores desire, emotional loneliness, social expectations, marriage and the consequences of forbidden love.
