Kaveri is single, professionally successful and well read, but her attempts to find her one great love have repeatedly failed. On turning thirty, she decides that she will no longer wait for the perfect relationship and resolves to lose her virginity regardless of whether love is involved. Her decision sets off a series of romantic adventures that challenge her assumptions about love, intimacy and happiness.
Madhuri Banerjee is an Indian author and media professional. She has worked across television, advertising and documentary filmmaking and holds an MA in Communication and Film from Jamia Millia Islamia. Her debut novel, Losing My Virginity and Other Dumb Ideas, explores modern relationships, women's independence and the search for emotional fulfilment.
The novel centres on Kaveri, an independent working woman approaching her thirtieth birthday. Despite knowing several languages and having read extensively about dating and relationships, she remains unable to find the love she has always imagined. She finally decides to stop waiting and pursue a relationship on her own terms. However, the experience does not unfold as expected. Through romance, disappointment and emotional upheaval, Kaveri gradually discovers that love is not simply about finding the perfect person—it is also about understanding herself.
