Anita Nair is an internationally acclaimed Indian author whose work spans novels, short stories, poetry, children's literature, essays, plays and translation. Her notable books include The Better Man, Ladies Coupe, Mistress and Lessons in Forgetting. She has also translated T.S. Pillai's Malayalam classic Chemmeen into English and edited Where the Rain Is Born. Her writing has been translated into numerous languages and she is the founder of the creative-writing mentorship programme Anita's Attic.
The anthology presents Kerala through a wide range of literary voices rather than a single narrative. Its selections combine essays, fiction, poetry and extracts to explore the state's landscape, cultural traditions, social structures and changing identity.
