Overview

The Story of My Experiments with Truth is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's autobiography, covering his life from early childhood to 1921.

It was written in weekly instalments and published in his journal Navjivan between 1925 and 1929, with an English translation appearing in instalments in Young India. Gandhi undertook it at the insistence of Swami Anand and other close co-workers, who pressed him to explain the thinking behind his public campaigns. What he produced is less a record of events than an account of a man testing his principles against his own conduct, and reporting honestly where he fell short.
