My Little Book of Durga

Part of the My Little Book of series, this sturdy board book introduces children to popular Hindu gods and goddesses through simple stories, colourful illustrations and age-appropriate activities. The series also features Krishna, Ganesha, Lakshmi, Hanuman and Shiva.

Ashwitha Jayakumar is a writer, former teacher and history enthusiast who studied English literature at the University of Edinburgh and medieval studies at the University of Leeds. She has written for children and worked as a freelance editorial consultant. The series is also credited to the Penguin India Editorial Team, with contributions from Swarnavo Datta.

The story introduces children to the powerful Goddess Durga, who confronts the demon Mahishasura and protects the world from evil. Written in simple language and supported by engaging illustrations, the book combines storytelling with facts about Durga and a seek-and-find activity. It is designed for read-aloud sessions, bedtime reading and early exploration of Indian mythology and culture.
